Kersten Christianson

This Pot

This small pot is spring -
bright in lingering
sun and long shadow,
dried leaf and lush moss.

It holds buds of alder
and salmonberry,
skunk cabbage bloom
in wet woods.

Rain catcher,
hail collector,
keeper of winds
this spring is cupped
by warm hands.
