Living in the world of "Alternative Facts" has been stressful to say the least. This week we're going to do some research. For our writing prompt we're asking you to pick a topic and do some research. Read Wikipedia, if you have access to JSTOR or other academic sites look up some articles, grab that non-fiction book your brother gave you last Christmas and find some cold hard facts.
Some other research topics: the year you were born, mathematicians, Mars Rover data, wildlife in New Mexico, painting techniques... anything that you are interested in and want to know more about.
Incorporate what you've learned into your piece, is it a poem, a short story or an article? Add footnotes and bibliographies, quote sources and be able to track your information. How can writers be creative with facts without erasing the truth? Use your creativity to illuminate the truth.
As always we'd love to see your responses to our writing prompts!
